Sep 9, England. This year Maharaj Ji made a short trip of 12 days to England on repeated requests from devotees there. Still, it was a great recuperation for the souls tired of worldly hustle-bustle. Maharaj Ji visited Edgware, Birmingham, and Slough and conducted satsang at every devotee’s place. There was no open satsang this time as the time was short. Moreover, Maharaj Ji was more concerned for the progress and promotion of old students before the admittance of fresher. This approach gave way to many interactions there and this helped us collect some pearls from the vast sea of wisdom. We are sharing some of these pearls with you over here.
- As long our karma (actions) are based on ego, they are only partially good. Hence, they bring not only pleasure but also pain. In fact, no karma in the world is pure except for bhakti (devotion to God). Sewa or unselfish service (seeing God in everyone) is a starting point for this.
- Sewa means serving others as a moral responsibility without seeking any return or reward. We must also not try to judge or analyze the person we are serving, as sewa doesn’t mean helping someone with worldly need. It rather means helping your own spiritual progress through the process. This whole world is interconnected and interdependent therefore if we don’t care for others and live selfishly then we would disturb the universal harmony which is a great sin.
- Any communication starts by addressing a person with his/her name and turning our focus in that direction. Similarly, if were to communicate with God then we must have a proper name (Guru-Mantra) and turn our focus inwards by closing our eyes as our God lives in our heart. In fact, God is already communicating with us but we are not able to perceive it as our focus is outwards and we don’t know how to address him.
- Evolution is the principle of God’s creation and the peak is to manifest him completely at every level. Even though everything and everyone is evolving but few keep their face towards God, the ultimate. This is the reason of all our misery and pain because just by turning our face towards him we gain so much strength and elation that nothing in world can bother us anymore. As being admitted to a medical college itself gives you a feel as if you were already a doctor.
- God is not a person and not even super-person but absolute power that is truth-consciousness-bliss, which may be personified at times. Fire gives us heat and snow gives cold even from some distance, whether we notice it or not. Similarly, we can feel the power and bliss just by turning towards God even if we don’t see him. If we knew this, we would never run so fervently after worldly possessions or recognition, which give us mere momentary glimpse of this bliss. Power gives us pleasure and pleasure brings about power.
- Pleasure, Power and Peace are actually the same and we already have some experience of it even though unknowingly. Just imagine, if we don’t get to sleep for few days then not only we become restless but also weak in body and mind. Although, in sleep we are completely disconnected with the world, worldly possessions or recognitions yet we want to sleep at any cost. The reason is that in sleep we connect with God inside, which provides not only relaxation but also strength to our body and mind.
- The reason we are not able to retain the wise tips gained in satsang or elsewhere is that our mind is preoccupied with so many other priorities, needs, and notions. Remember, like attracts like. Therefore, you will be able to retain only that sort of things or thought what you already have in your mind. In fact, one picks out only those suggestions, which will helpful in satisfying desires, not the needs. It takes many births of spiritual awareness and yearning to perceive the knowledge as it is. Still, living that knowledge is not possible without God’s grace and Guru’s guidance howsoever hard we may try.
- We must not leave hope or courage until last breath, as the divine power is latent within all of us, which may make everything possible once awakened. The main purpose of our life is to go inside and explore this power, which is bliss. Once we are able to recognize it inside, we shall also see it outside everywhere and in everyone. This discovery would reflect in our behavior, as we would no more condemn anyone including ourselves but appreciate. We would not react to situations on impulse but always act thoughtfully.
- Behavior is the check for spiritual evolution. As you evolve spiritually, you would know that this world runs by a perfect divine system based on cause and effect. Hence, you would not blame others for your problems and take full responsibility of your life. Besides, you would know that ego is the only barrier between you and your divine nature and therefore you would surrender to Guru asking its removal.
- Science and spirituality are not the opposite sides of the same coin as generally proclaimed by intellectuals. Science is just one aspect of spirituality, which encompasses every aspect of our life. Obviously, both are not parallel. Nonetheless, spiritual awareness may help development in science but the scientific progress is no guarantee of spiritual growth. It may rather obstruct our inner journey at times by augmenting our materialistic approach.
- Despite so many differences amongst themselves, every religion agrees that God is one. It is like every mango tree is different from the other yet it gives the same fruits. If we forget the tree and taste just the mango then there is no difference.
- Every being, even a sinner is essentially divine. Proper guidance and sincere practice may prove this for everyone. It is analogous to a seed that doesn’t stand for its tree unless buried into the soil and grown to become a tree. Sin arises from false ego, which keeps the divinity covered inside. By surrendering to Guru and following his command, this false ego is purified and the real divine nature is revealed.
- Being religious means believing that God lives inside and hence our evolution is inevitable. This belief gives us motivation and courage to travel within and explore the treasure buried there. Otherwise, visiting temples and bowing down before idols or performing various rituals, while maintain same old persona would not prove anything.
- The cycle of life and death will go on incessantly until we reach the highest-level of evolution, which is manifestation of divinity in our body and behavior. Prabhu Kambli Wale used to say that you couldn’t escape any situation unless you evolve to the next level.
- Seeing divine in everyone means you observe only good qualities of others and their shortcomings don’t catch your attention. This purifies your heart and helps others to grow upon their level. Beware! if you expect change in others with your good behavior then you haven’t grasped the secret. The objective is to change yourself and by observing good qualities you will take it on. What you see is what you get.
