May 1 & 2, 2016, Ujjain Kumbh: A totally unexpected and a very beautiful meeting took place between Shri Maharaj Ji – Swami Buddh Puri Ji and the world-renowned Jagadacharya Yogi Amrit Desai on May 1 and May 2 at Ujjain Kumbh 2016. We happened to meet Amrit Ji at “Yoga Kumbh” camp of Pandit Radhesham Mishra and shared with him Maharaj Ji’s interest in Swami Kripalvananda’s life and practice – Amrit Ji’s gurudeva, and the possibility of having a meeting between the two. Amrit Ji expressed immediate interest to meet Maharaj Ji. So, a meeting was scheduled on the same evening at Amrit Ji’s residence. It was a beautiful exchange – where the common link happened to be Swami Kripalvananda’s life and his Mahayogic practice of body-transformation. We parted but not before handing Amrit Ji a copy of the book “Surya Kriya: Pathway to Immortality”. The next day we received a call from Amrit Ji’s camp with a request that Yogi Ji wanted to meet Maharaj Shri once more. In fact, he had gone over the book the previous night and got really interested in Maharaj Ji’s research and wished to learn how he could incorporate aspects into his own practice. So on May 2, Yogi Amrit Desai and his two disciples – Yogi Premdas and Yogi Harisharan – spent many hours with Maharaj Ji and Swami Suryendu Puri Ji, inquiring about deeper practices and how Maharaj Ji’s insights could be incorporated into the Amrit Yoga system. Maharaj Ji also shared with Yogi Ji the very deep Sapt Chakrik Swara Sadhana, the strength and depth of which was very much appreciated by Yogi Ji.
It was truly a gust of fresh air to see two great practitioners of this eternal path come together to share and widen their research, especially when in these times ego rules high even in the garb of spirituality. Nothing but sadhana was discussed. Truly, Amrit Ji, despite his great renown, is a humble, true man, who is still open and willing to learn and widen his practice. He expressed a desire to visit the ashram in Punjab next time he visits India, and also invited Swami Suryendu Puri Ji to his center in the US.
